SELLING YOURSELF ON YOU
Nicole Cohen’s
SELLING YOURSELF ON YOU
As a Small Business Owner, it can take a lot of
confidence to stand up and say:
“You should buy from me. I’m really, really fantastic.
I’m worth every penny!”
NEXT WORKSHOP:
Monday 22 September 2008
at Hunton Park, Hertfordshire
Nearest station: Watford Junction (20 mins - direct from Euston)
By car: Easy to reach from A41 / M1 / M25
I’ve chosen this beautiful DeVere venue because it’s easy to get to but feels like you’re in the middle of the countryside – a real “day out” from the office where you’ll have the time and space to switch off and get the most from this workshop.
I want to make sure you leave this event feeling refreshed and energised and ready to put your plans into action as soon as you get back to the office!
It can be difficult to keep your personal hang ups out of your business.
All those niggling little doubts come filtering through…
"I’m not good enough… experienced enough… qualified enough.”
"I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m not an entrepreneur.”
"I’m a fake. I’m not Walking The Talk. I can’t deliver.“
"I can’t charge that… I’m not worth it!”
Selling is an emotional process, especially when it comes to selling yourself, which is essentially what consultants, coaches and most small business owners are doing.
The hardest questions to answer can often be: “Why work with me? Why buy from me? How much am I worth?”
You can't sell yourself to others unless you really believe in yourself and what you have to offer and this kind of self belief has to come from within.
Your self perception (the good, the bad and the ugly) comes out in everything.
Any doubts, fears or concerns that you have filter through into all aspects of your business….
…your ability to sell effectively, your pricing, your marketing,
your ability to deliver and to create a successful business.
Are you getting in your own way?
Time and again, I hear small business owners struggling with the same problems and desperately searching for practical advice and solutions:
“I need more clients!”
“My marketing’s not working.”
“I can’t sell my products and services.”
“My prices are too low… (or too high).”
“I don’t know who my ideal clients are.”
“I’m struggling to make my business work.”
What I’ve noticed time and time again is that it’s usually not what you’re doing, but how you’re doing it that stops you from being a success.
Once we’ve sifted through the practical debris of the business, underneath it all is a fundamental lack of belief in yourself, in your business or in what you’re actually selling. This lack of confidence affects everything – the way you run your business, deliver your products and services, set your prices and of course in your ability to sell your products and services.
Selling Yourself On You is a powerful one day workshop that will help you to get out of your own way and create a successful business that you’re proud of.
Are any of the following familiar to you…?
I’m good at what I do but I’m definitely not a sales person!?
I can’t set a price and stick to it. I keep dropping my prices because deep down I believe they’re too high!?
I hate “selling” to my customers – if my products and services are good enough, then my customers will come and find me!?
My marketing material is so bland and boring that I wouldn’t even buy from me.
I don’t know how to describe my products and services in a way that appeals to my customers!?
I get lots of enquiries but I struggle to convert them into paying customers!?
I’m so bogged down with the business that I’ve lost all my passion and enthusiasm for it. Sometimes I think that it’s just not worth it and I’ll never make it work!?
The problem is that, as a business owner, it is difficult to separate yourself from your business. You put so much into it emotionally as well as financially. You define the nature and direction of your business. You determine the way things are done. Your personality and values set the tone for your whole business.
What’s more, you’ve probably got a lot invested in your business, whether that’s time, money, blood, sweat, tears.
There’s a lot at stake. You probably have financial commitments to meet, you might passionately believe that what you offer needs to be out there, you may even feel that you have something to prove (to yourself or other people).
What would it really mean to you if your business didn’t work out?
Are there drastic financial implications?
Would it affect your lifestyle?
Would it limit your freedom to make the choices you want?
Would it change the way you see yourself… or the way other people see you?
The truth of the matter is that most small business owners view their businesses as an extension of themselves… so what does that say about you if your business doesn’t succeed?
The fear of failure can be a terrifying prospect for a small business owner. It can be incredibly difficult to realise that things aren’t working out quite how you wanted them to.
For all your best efforts, you just aren’t getting the results you want. It’s not easy to admit that things aren’t working. It’s even harder to ask for help… but you can’t just keep doing what you’re doing if nobody wants to buy it.
It can be immensely frustrating when you’re ploughing your time, money and passion into a project and just not getting the results you want.
It can make you start to question your business and even yourself!
Selling Yourself On You works from the inside-out to help you to become a successful business owner...
When you truly believe in yourself, your business and your products and services, then so will everyone else. If your customers believe in you and the value of what you have to offer, then they’ll buy from you.
You can’t sell yourself to others until you’ve sold yourself to you.
I’m not just talking about blind faith or unfounded arrogance. I’m talking about a genuine, deep rooted belief in the value of who you are and what you have to offer.
You need to genuinely believe that:
Your customers will benefit from buying your products or services;
Your products and services are worth the money you’re charging;
You're worth it!
Your self belief literally determines your success.
Sounds like a cliché but when you do what you love and love what you do, everything simply falls into place. When you believe in yourself and your personal self-worth, it all becomes easy. When your vision of your business is aligned with your personal values, when you’re working with integrity from a place of authenticity, it all just comes together.
Selling Yourself On You will help you to get out of your own way so that you can turn your business into the success story that you dream about.
Here’s how some of my clients have got out of their own way…
“My Guilty Secret is… I’m not qualified!”
A creative business owner was struggling to attract new customers and sell her services. The problem was that she had a Guilty Secret - she had never had any formal training – and she was terrified that her customers would find out. Although she was confident about her creative abilities, in a business context, she was paralysed by her own doubts and insecurities and this was coming across to her customers loud and clear.
In reality, her customers weren’t put off by her lack of qualifications. They were simply picking up on her lack of self belief. The message that she was putting out was: “I’m not really sure if I can help you.”
What we identified was that her customers were actually creative individuals who were drawn to her dynamic, unorthodox approach and preferred her creative originality to a more structured, technical approach. Her Guilty Secret was actually one of her most appealing attributes - her Unique Selling Point. Once she recognised her own strength, her business started to fly.
“I don’t want to seem pushy.”
After a successful PR campaign, a small business owner started getting lots of enquiries but none of them were converting into sales. When we looked at his sales and marketing process, it became evident that he was getting in his own way. His fear of seeming pushy meant that he literally wasn’t asking his customers to buy from him. He was, in fact, pushing them away. What’s more, he was actually giving away a lot of valuable information in his initial sales consultation free of charge.
Together, we looked at the problems his customers faced and identified the real benefits of his products and services and the value that he offered. We managed to shift his own perception so that he genuinely believed that he was helping his customers to solve real problems in their lives, not just selling to them.
As a result, he was able to communicate much more confidently and clearly with his potential new customers and to ask them to take the next step – to buy from him. The result - more sales and a stronger, more loyal ongoing relationship with his customers. His marketing material became more compelling and more effective and he even started charging for his initial consultation session.
“I can’t charge that!”
A business service provider had to raise his prices to cover the cost of investment in new technology. However, he was struggling to justify his price increase and his sales had dropped drastically as a result.
Together we undertook a competitive review, looking not just as his competitors’ prices but also at the types of clients they worked with and the nature of the services they offered. We noticed several things. Firstly, that his level of customer service was significantly higher and more personalised than that of his competitors. Secondly, that his personal style of delivery made his services unique within his marketplace. Finally, that there was a particular type of client who was specifically looking for something fresh and distinctive and they were prepared to pay top dollar for it.
These revelations gave him the confidence and self belief that he needed to raise his prices and become an effective salesman. However, they also had a deeper, more profound impact. They gave him a new insight into himself and his business. He realised that he’d been trying to fit himself into some misguided perception he had of how a business owner “should” act. In fact, his customers loved his unique originality and flamboyant personality. As a result, he lost weight, changed his image and became the person he truly wanted to be… and created a successful and profitable business that he loved.

What this programme is (and isn’t)…
I’ve been on plenty of marketing conferences, workshops and seminars. I’ve spent literally thousands and thousands of pounds on marketing training. I’ve absorbed lots of interesting information, learnt many new techniques, picked up countless tips and tricks but, at the end of the day, I’ve still had to go back to the office and start putting it all into practise. Too many times, I’ve come away from programmes buzzing with plans that never quite happen, ideas that fall by the wayside once I get back to The Real World.
The difference with Selling Yourself On You is that we’re looking at internal change… real, meaningful, lasting change.
In my experience and that of my clients, it’s this personal shift that has the biggest impact on your business. Believe me, it’s this very process that was the turning point for my own business and for countless business owners that I’ve worked with.
I know that this process has literally made me (and my clients) thousands of pounds and it can do the same for you too.
Don’t just take my word for it, here’s what some of my clients say about me…
“Fantastic session, left me with a feeling of STRENGTH… can only be a good sign. Loved the way you worked with me, the intuition and determination to help me face who I am… can’t be measured. I’m going to try to be me… be proud of it and remember that’s what will make me a BIG success.”

What you’ll get from this workshop…
you know exactly what you stand to gain from Selling Yourself On You…
you could make that internal shift, what would it do for your business?
you could improve your confidence and self belief, how would that impact on your selling skills, your marketing, your pricing?
you could start to achieve your full potential, what would that mean to you and your business?
you had more confidence, more customers, more sales, more money, more passion for your business, what would that be worth to you?
When it comes to straightforward marketing planning, it’s much easier to specify benefits and outcomes and even start to calculate a direct return on investment. However, I know for a fact that this process goes much deeper than ordinary marketing. I can give you all the marketing guidance and advice that you can deal with. I can help you to develop plans and systems and processes but unless you put them into action with conviction and with confidence, the best plans in the world won’t work.
Sometimes it’s about working smarter, not harder.
If you can sell yourself on you, the rest will follow.
What’s this worth to you and your business?
For a straightforward marketing planning programme, I’d charge you £2,000 and know that you were getting good value. I honestly believe that you’ll get even more value and better results from Selling Yourself On You. However, I don’t want price getting in your way. I know that you have to experience this process for yourself to believe it. I want to make it as easy as possible for you to take advantage of this opportunity. I want to inspire you to start realising your full potential. I want you to do it now… so that you can take these learnings and start creating the business of your dreams.
Selling Yourself On You will only cost you £370 and I promise you that it will have a more profound and longer lasting impact on you and your business than any other marketing approach I know. I know this for a fact, both from personal experience and from working with hundreds of small business owners over the years.
The question is: Are you worth it?
If you’re ready to make that shift, book your place on my next workshop today and start creating a successful business that you love.
I look forward to meeting you and believing in you.
As an extra treat, workshop attendees will be free to explore the beautiful formal gardens, wander around the idyllic Nature Trail and even spend a couple of hours in the swimming pool and Jacuzzi after the event. If you really want to spoil yourself, I’ve even organised a special delegate rate to stay over (either the Sunday or Monday night) to make full use of the facilities.
I want to make sure you leave this event feeling refreshed and energised and ready to put your plans into action as soon as you get back to the office!
PS. If you’re still sitting on the fence, I want to ask you this: What would make the biggest difference to your business right now? More customers, more money, more time, more passion? What’s stopping you from getting it? Is it your marketing, your sales, your finances… or is it you? What’s really going to change unless you do? You are your business. If you keep doing things the same way that you’ve always done them, then you’ll keep getting the same results. If you change the way you do things, you’ll see a big difference. Only you can make that change.
PPS. Remember it’s all too easy to get caught up in the struggles of running your own business. It can become a drain, a chore, a bore. Don’t make it any more difficult for yourself than it needs to be. Remember why you started out in business. This is your life, your passion. It’s meant to be fun! Do what you love and love what you do. Get out of your own way and start enjoying your business.
